Cat Experts: my cat is chewing on cables (electric cables)?

I recently purchased a massage chair that was on sale at the sharper image..went to sit down to get a massage and it wouldn’t turn on…I get up look at the cable..and its plugged..then I go to grab the chair’s remote..and the WHOLE CABLE WAS CHEWED PEOPLE!!!!!! i can see all the little cables that were in there….chewed!!! millions of cat bites!! please help me. I love my cats, and I can take the whole scratching my furniture deal and other deal breakers but I am so upset..I’m seriously considering getting rid of them.

Most electronics stores sell cord/cable protectors. That should take care of your problem. (And, fortunately, replacing a damaged electrical cord is a relatively simple repair.)

Some plastics (plus photographs, certain glues, antifreeze, etc.) contain chemicals that cats find attractive. Give the cats a selection of more interesting things (catnip toys, etc.) to turn their attention to, in addition to covering your electrical cords with protectors.

My Siamese used to do the same thing. (He had pica, and was crazy for any type of plastic, so I was very careful to keep certain things away from him.)
